Introduction
This course of training is intended to highlight to delegates the construction industry’s accident record when working at height and the safety precautions required.
For whom the Course is Intended
All company personnel who are required to work or supervise work at height where common pieces of equipment are used for access/egress, predominately mobile scaffolding towers.
Course Aims
To emphasise to delegates the need for safe systems and procedures to be followed when carrying out work at height. That all access equipment needs to be inspected prior to use and components only altered or removed by competent persons.
Objectives
At the end of the course delegates will be able to:-
- Understand the main aims of Health and Safety Legislation – HASWA, Construction (HS&W) Regulations, P.U.W.E.R. 1998, LOLER 1998.
- Understand the industry’s poor record with regard to falls from height.
- Understand the hazards associated with access equipment and the consequences of misuse.
- Carry out risk assessments on typical working at height construction activities
- Understand the need to inspect, prior to use, and the safe use of access equipment.
- Carry out an inspection and complete an appropriate report
