Introduction
This half day course is intended to develop an understanding of the 1998 Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations and the relationship with the Abrasive Wheels Regulations 1970.
For whom the Course is intended
Managers, Supervisors Operators on whom PUWER 1998 has an impact on their specific duties/responsibilities. Also Safety Advisors/Officers wishing to provide training to Company Employees.
Course Aims
To provide training as required by PUWER and to meet the Schedule set out in the original Abrasive Wheels Regulations 1970 for persons who change abrasive wheels in the workplace.
Objectives
- Understand the significant changes incorporated in PUWER 1998 and the revocation of “The Abrasive Wheels Regulations” and how this affects portable powered work equipment.
- Understand the relationship PUWER 1998 has with other Health and Safety legislation, i.e. HASWA, MHSW Regulations and LOLER 1998.
- Understand the definitions/terminology of Abrasive Wheels including all components and their functions.
- Receive appropriate training as set out in the Schedule to the Regulations.
- Become the Competent Person authorised and appointed by the Company to change Abrasive Wheels.
