Introduction
The S.M.S.T.S. was introduced by the Construction Industry to ensure that those responsible for managing Health & Safety on site within the Building Construction and Civil Engineering Industry are competent to fulfil, both their legal and moral obligation. The Scheme is managed by the C.I.T.B. on behalf of the Construction Industry.
For whom the Course is Intended
The Course is essential for Contracts Managers, Project Managers, Site Managers, Site Agents, Sub Agents, Engineers, Foremen/Supervisors with responsibility for Health & Safety on site.
Course Aims
To equip Managers/Supervisors with knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and be able to demonstrate their knowledge by successfully passing the end of Course Examination as set by the Construction Industry.
Objectives
At the end of the course delegates will:-
- Gain knowledge of the Health & Safety Legislation, Regulations, A.C.O.P’s and guidance, Criminal and Civil Law.
- Understand how to produce a Company Safety Policy and it’s implementation across the business.
- Be able to identify risks in the workplace, carry out Risk Assessments and produce Method Statements/Safe System of Work.
- Be able to demonstrate how to manage safety on site by the completion of a Construction Site Project Exercise, which forms part of the Course.
- Pass the end of Course Examination as set by the Industry.
